Our Story

From theMidwest to the big city

January 2022We met a week after Shuvro moved to NYC. We quickly realized we had been living parallel lives from the Midwest to San Francisco to NYC.
March 2024 – We moved into our apartment in the clouds in Manhattan. Shuvro brought the TV.
May 2024 – We went on a trip to Italy, which was Shuvro's first. Laura successfully converted him to Italian art, food, and Aperol spritzes.
May 2025 – We got engaged at Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden in Tokyo and were lucky enough to have several close friends there to celebrate (love you Fay, Jillian, and Anna!).

Events

We are planning food and fun from Sunday evening to Tuesday morning. All guests are invited to every event.
You can find details about what to wear in each event's description.

Welcome Dinner

7:00 pm at Giardino L'olivella

We recommend arriving at the Villa the day before the wedding to settle into your room and then join us for dinner. Everyone should be ready by 7:00 pm at the Villa to take a quick ten min drive to the dinner venue. Weather permitting, we'll dine in the beautiful vineyard.
What to wear to the welcome dinner:
  • Cocktail attire inspired by the classic movie Roman Holiday (1953). Think chic, joyful, and elegant on a charming Italian summer evening. Consider this a fashion inspiration, not a costume theme – wear whatever makes you feel bellissima!
  • We recommend warm and lively tones like soft pastels, navy, olive, and pops of red. Please avoid full white outfits.
  • For women: Midi or knee-length dress inspired by vintage silhouettes like full skirts, fitted waists, and classic sheaths. Have fun with accessories – silk scarves, pearls, and more! Block heels or flats and a light layer are recommended for the evening vineyard setting.
  • For men: Tailored suit or dress trousers with a button-down, optional blazer, and polished shoes.

Breakfast

7:00 - 10:30 am at Villa Grazioli

Start the wedding day with a casual breakfast at the Villa.
What to wear: Casual attire. Please avoid full white outfits.

Lunch and Lounge

12:00 - 2:00 pm at Villa Grazioli

Because the wedding is in the evening, you'll have plenty of time during the day to swim in the pool, explore the beautiful interiors, and hang out with many of our favorite people. A lunch buffet will be available to our guests 12:00 - 2:00pm.
What to wear: Casual attire. Please avoid full white outfits.

Ceremony

6:00 - 6:30 pm at Villa Grazioli

Join us in the front garden for the wedding ceremony. If the weather doesn't cooperate, we'll move inside to a beautiful hall of murals.
What to wear: Same as the reception. See details below!

Reception

6:30 pm - 1:00 am at Villa Grazioli

After the ceremony, enjoy aperitivo followed by a four-course dinner as the sun sets over a panoramic view of Rome. Then dance the night away with us.
What to wear to the ceremony and reception:
  • Formal attire: elegant, timeless, and refined. We recommend jewel tones and deep neutrals. Think burgundy, plum, deep teal, and old gold. Please avoid full white outfits.
  • For women: Floor-length gown or elegant midi dress. Block heels, wedges, or flats are recommended for the ceremony's outdoor setting.
  • For men: Suit or tuxedo in a dark color (black, charcoal, navy, or similar) paired with a tie or bow tie and polished shoes.

Breakfast

7:00 - 10:30 am at Villa Grazioli

Before heading out to the next stop on your Italian adventure, share one last breakfast with us at the Villa.
What to wear: Casual attire. Please avoid full white outfits.

FAQ

What if we cannot make it toRome?

In addition to our wedding in Italy, Shuvro's parents are hosting a wedding celebration for us in Ann Arbor, Michigan on August 9, 2026. If you can't make it to Italy, we would love to see you in Michigan. But if you will be in Italy, there is zero pressure to come to Michigan too.

What about plus ones and kids?

We included plus ones in your wedding invitation. You will be able to enter your plus one's details in the RSVP form. Unfortunately, we aren't able to include any kiddos in Italy, but they are welcome in Michigan!

When should we book flights?

If you haven't booked yet, here's our honest take: use Google Flights' price tracking and the app Hopper to monitor fares and get alerts. Flight prices have been rising lately due to oil fluctuations, so if you find a fare that's been consistent according to the price history graph on Google Flights, it's probably worth booking now rather than waiting for a drop that may not come. The longer you wait, the fewer options you'll have for preferred seats and routing.

What airport should we fly into?

Most likely, you'll fly into Fiumicino (FCO), the large international airport in Rome. Ciampino (CIA) is a smaller airport used primarily for short European flights. Both are accessible to Villa Grazioli, so fly into whichever offers the flights you prefer.
You can travel from FCO airport directly to Villa Grazioli with a 40-minute car ride or 1.5-hour train journey.

What doI need to travel toItaly?

  • Passport validity: Make sure your passport is valid through at least March 2027 (six months past your travel date — standard international requirement). If it's expiring before then, renew now. Processing times have been running several weeks.
  • FYI on EES biometric check: Starting April 2026, the EU requires non-EU visitors to have their photo and fingerprints taken at the border. No action needed on your end – just don't be surprised at customs.
  • FYI on ETIAS: You may have heard about this new EU travel authorization that's similar to the US ESTA. The current official launch date is the end of 2026, so it will very likely not apply to your trip. We'll send an update to everyone if that changes.

What's the weather like?

The weather in Rome should be warm and comfortable as the summer winds down. Expect temperatures with a low of 60° and high of 80°.

AmI invited to all of the events?

Yes! All guests are invited to every event, from the Welcome Dinner on Sunday through the final breakfast on Tuesday morning. We hope you can make it to all of them. Note that the Welcome Dinner is the only event not taking place at the Villa. We'll have transportation arranged for all guests from the Villa, so no need to worry about getting there yourself.

Do you have a registry?

No, we don't have a registry. Your trip all the way to Italy is the only gift we want. We're truly grateful!

Recommendations

Your pocket guide toItaly

We've put together a personal Google Map with our recommendations for restaurants, sightseeing, shopping, and more across Rome and Florence. Explore our Google map →

To save it: open the link on your phone and tap the bookmark icon in Google Maps. You can browse pins by category, get directions from wherever you are, and download the area offline in advance. Most pins include notes with helpful details – the top dish to order, whether you need a reservation, and more – so click into each one before you go.
One important tip: Many of Rome and Florence's most popular sites (the Colosseum, Vatican Museums, Uffizi, and others) require advance booking and sell out days or even weeks ahead. Decide which landmarks you most want to see and book timed entry or skip-the-line tickets before you leave home to ensure you don't miss anything!
